Congratulations to the 2021 WaveMakers: Carolina Cueva, Liz Ferrer & Bow Ty, Violenta Flores / Juan Carlos Zaldivar, Sage Gee, Nick Gilmore, Amanda Keeley, Summer Jade Leavitt, Dan Mathis, Arsimmer McCoy, Michelle Lisa Polissaint, Chire Regans, and Ema Ri. WaveMaker grants extend Locust Projects’ mission into the community through publicly accessible projects that respond and reflect upon issues and ideas relevant to our community. WaveMaker grantees and guests received the coveted limited edition 2021 WaveMaker SPLASH! Towel designed by artist and former WaveMaker grantee, Najja Moon. Guests were ushered in with the eclectic musical stylings of Miami’s own celebrity DJ Kumi and welcomed with the evening’s signature cocktail, carefully created by Andean Agave sponsor and past WaveMaker grantee, Evan Marcus of CHAWAR and some artistically crafted brews sponsored by Tripping Animals Brewing. Miami Beach, FL – Septem– Locust Projects‘ Splash! Party at Soho Beach House celebrated the 2021 WaveMakers who received grants for publicly accessible, community-driven projects across Miami-Dade, supported by The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts’ Regional Regranting Program.

The 2022 WaveMakers are: New Work / Projects: Trae DeLellis & Juan Barquin, Pamela Largaespada, Phil Lique, Julian Montalvo & Fredo Rivera, Terence Price II, and Roscoè B. Locust Projects is excited to share its 2022 WaveMaker Grant awardees! Selected through an open call process by a team of local and national artists and arts professionals, twelve visionary artists and artist collectives will receive up to $6,000 each to create innovative work that will be shared with the public across Miami in non-traditional venues and platforms. WaveMaker Grants are made possible by The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts' Regional Regranting Program, a network of 32 partner organizations across the country. Grantees receive up to $6,000 each in three categories: New Work / Projects, Long-Haul Projects, and Research & Development + Implementation. In the spirit of Locust Projects’ artist-driven mission, WaveMakers experiment and take risks, creating innovative work that is shared with the public in unconventional spaces. Since 2015, WaveMaker has awarded $570,000 to 114 of Miami’s visionary artists. Locust Projects, Miami’s longest running nonprofit alternative art space, makes art happen by supporting artists with opportunities and resources-like WaveMaker incubator grants.
